HISTORY OF REDEEMER

Q: When was Redeemer Church planted?
A: The official launch service was August 26th, 2012.

Q: Why was Redeemer Church planted?
A:
To unleash the powerful Gospel. The Gospel is the power of God unto salvation for all who believe! It saves. It sanctifies. It restores. It brings hope to the hopeless and joy to the joyless. So the vision for planting a church in Oxford was based on the powerful Gospel being advanced into the most pivotal community in Calhoun County. It is our belief that the best way to transform communities with the Gospel is to plant churches that preach the Gospel and live out the implications of the Gospel.

Q: Who planted Redeemer Church?
A:
Anniston Bible Church & Grace Fellowship. For fifteen years Anniston Bible Church desired to be a church planting church. Grace Fellowship also endeavored to plant churches from its inception. During the summer of 2011, the leaders of those two churches became equally burdened to plant together. After months of counsel from church-planters, studying the needs of the community, deliberation among leaders, and prayer for God’s wisdom, the two churches agreed to initiate this mission together.

Q: How was Redeemer Church planted?
A: The two churches commissioned and sent a total of ten families to start the work in Oxford. They sent one of their elders (Ryan Limbaugh) and one of their deacons (Wayne Acheson) to shepherd the flock and train up more leaders to come alongside them.

Q: What kind of church is Redeemer Church?
A: Put simply, a Gospel church. We focus on the Gospel, which is the good news of salvation for hell-deserving sinners through faith in the person & work of Jesus Christ.

Q: Why is the church called “Redeemer”?
A: Our name is intended to communicate the source, subject, and center of our church. The fact is, we all need a Redeemer. We all need deliverance from the bondage of sin to the freedom of life with God. Jesus is our Redeemer. He has delivered us from bondage to freedom, from rebellion to worship, from isolation to fellowship, from depravity to discipleship, from selfishness to service. We are a church that centers our ministry on the Redeemer, Jesus Christ. We celebrate our relationship with Him through worship. We love each other in the way He has loved us through fellowship. We train people to joyfully follow Him through discipleship. We go and proclaim His message through mission.

Q: What is the purpose of Redeemer Church?
A: We exist to pursue the glory of God and the joy of all people through worship, fellowship, discipleship, and mission.
